Large mausoleum in San Diego.0

Posted by Hosh in Uncategorized (Monday August 25, 2008 at 8:31 am)

I have journeyed with my now fiance, then girlfriend and soon to be wife to San Diego for three years now.  She travels there with friends to morn the passing of one of her most beloved friends.  Evey year its an experience.  Between witnessing the worst in driving tactics, absolute idiocy in a Target food court and San Diegan’s not knowing how to use an elevator.

However thats not what this is about, today, while being a bit on the macabre side will be about this absolutely HUGE mausoleum at the cometary we visit.  Click the pictures for the Flickr feed.  I apologize for the iPhone pictures, I think they came out ok though.

He had a good time this weekend.  Played some Connect 4 and Trackball. I really liked Trackball.  What a simple and cool toy.

Expensive swimsuit, good for ten runs.0

Posted by webmaster in Uncategorized (Tuesday August 12, 2008 at 9:03 am)

Behold! The Speedo LZR Racer swimsuit. What you see is $500.00 worth of swimsuit that reduces drag some 10%! Which is a pretty massive number. Downside aside from the price is it only works ten time!

The score so far is out of the 48 records set in 08′ 44 were set with the swimmer wearing the LZR. At this time, 8 records have also been broken at the Olympics with this suit on.

Coming from my competitive gaming background I’d say the suit is fine, but I feel badly for poorer countries or those that can’t get their hands on them. Although frankly, if its a poorer African country they might be more concerned about even finishing the race.

Reptus Tyrant, part 20

Posted by Hosh in Uncategorized (Thursday July 17, 2008 at 8:16 am)

Last night at about 9:00pm I started the second session painting the Reptus Tyrant. As you might have remembered from the first post, I left the model with the skin and fabric painted. There was also a base coat on the chainmail.

Here are the updated pictures:

I’m disappointed in my NMM on the sword. other than that I am pretty happy. I really wish I hadn’t lost 50% of my paints because I think I spent 25% of my time mixing on the pallet to find the right tones. Side note - Check out the Reaper board on making a wet pallet. It was really helpful in keeping the paint wet under my bright desk lamp.

Backside:

I feel the NMM on the back of the sword is much stronger. The gator skin loses something as well due to my hot flash (I couldn’t get the lighting right). When I start posting auctions I’m going to need to get a light box.

Wide shot:

Things to wrap up:

  1. The base, I’m not sure why I based it in brown, since this is for D&D flag stones in grey would have been better.
  2. The front side of the sword.
  3. Maybe touch up the eyes.
  4. POSSIBLY soften some of the whites. I don’t think I should blame my lack of paints on this one. Really my skill is where the buck stops. Regardless. I think the shoulders are over white. Also, the lines are too robust.

I think I’ll get through 1 and 2 and then just leave it. I mean, we play again Monday and I want to get this model on the table!

Next up:

I’m really excited about the model. My buddy is playing a Dragonborn Paladin, I think this model is PERFECT. I’m going to leave the tail on as well. Skin will be sickly poison green tones (he spits poison) and armor a ghostly black/grey.

Pings and Trackbacks.0

Posted by webmaster in Uncategorized (Tuesday February 12, 2008 at 3:22 pm)

These are neat little ways to notify other blogs and in turn bloggers that you are linking to them.  Pings basically take the bracketed linked words.  If I were to say “I just read a great blog on internet neutrality”  The internet neutrality would show up in the comments section of the linked blog as a comment, or however that blog handles pings.

Trackbacks work in a similar way but provide more data.  Trackbacks are pretty much the standard fair in blog linking these days and naturally.  My blog won’t do them!!  I’ve been smashing my head on the keyboard trying to figure this out and it just won’t work.  I never see that the trackback was sent in the post edit screen on Wordpress.

Oh well I’ll keep smashing.

Food network makes me fat.0

Posted by Hosh in Uncategorized (Monday January 21, 2008 at 10:54 pm)

Its 10:47 as I type this up. I’ve been sitting on the couch surfing around different sites. Look up the details on loading the ScummVM emulator on my iPod Touch when it gets here. The reason is simple.

But back to the Food Network. I’m watching Dinners Drive-ins and Dives. Tonights episode I believe is a re-run. Regardless, its about BBQ. BBQ gets me going. I love it, brisket and ribs is just heaven to me. I like it slightly sweet and spicy. Then problem is as I mentioned its almost 11:00 and I have an urge to find BBQ of any kind.
